you don't know which way is up. You're basically sitting in the car scared shitless, and you are simply trying to absorb everything being thrown at you. I think even if you study the track beforehand, all that goes out the window once you hit the grid. Obviously if you've tracked before, pre-studying a track has huge benefits. But if you're still learning how to "drive", I don't see it helping much.
